Been ages since I played but I recall being surprised the Build Mod guys are still active when I looked a few months back. Nothing quite like it (well, Sea Dogs and pre-mod PoTC). It’s as close to a “space trading sim” tall ships game as I’ve seen.

Here’s a link to the Build Mod 13 version, with some more details: The build mod is currently at version 14 beta 1, but look for either build mod 12 final or build mod 13 final if you want to avoid beta stuff etc. It’s acheived some pretty impressive results and currently is my favourite game(+mod) in this genre, some of the ships are really well done, as is the combat etc. The Build Mod project has attempted to remove the movie tie in elements and develop PotC+Build Mod as a pure pirate/age-of-sail simulation. This game was going to be Sea Dogs 2, then Disney needed a game for the movie and they came out with this.Īs a game of the movie it was pretty poor and an average game overall, but had some great at sea sailing moments.
